“ Hastily I was awakened from my thoughts when one rider, Thomas Sjöström asked:
- Is there anyone who has the experience of angry horses?
It became silent.
- Is there anyone here who would dare to take care of “ the Duke “ ?
Still very quiet. I put myself at the back of the crowd. Just the thought of me trying to take care of the Duke was totally preposterous. I laughed and shook my head. It was a mistake.
- You Ollner may take the Duke. “
In her first book “ My Experiences with Horses “. Marike Ollner shares her own experiences as a horse owner, equine masseuse and a reikimaster.
It is a captivating, fast-paced and emotional story written with tongue in cheek, where many strong personalities in the horse world show up: from her own horse Sweet to Sweden’s best trotter of all time, Victory Tilly. Marike also lets the readers get acquainted with some of the show horses at the Royal Ridingschool in Jerez de la Frontera in Spain.
Marike Ollner’s life changed after a car accident. Her interest in horses saved her life and horses became her new profession. Since then she has worked with both equine massage therapy and reiki, delivered lectures and courses in Sweden and abroad.
She has also a bachelor’s degree in Behavioural Sciences.
Marike lives in Stockholm.

I worked in the racing stables of Stig H Johansson from 2001 to 2006. I gave massage to many of his horses, and to name a few, Victory Tilly, Digger Crown, Abano AS and Je t’aime Dream. In the autumn of 2002 I took a break and worked with the dressage horses at the Royal Ridingschool in Jerez de la Frontera in Spain.
I have had my own riding horse from 1982 to 2000.
Reiki is a healing method that was rediscovered in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1900’s. The syllable rei means spirit or subtle energy and the ki means power or energy. One can say spiritual energy or universal life energy.
Reiki is taught in two steps through direct hands-on reiki 1 and reiki 2 is from a distance. In stage 1 the pupils learn to channel spiritual energy through their hands. This method of healing is something anyone can learn. Reiki has no limits and goes where it is most needed at all levels: physical, emotional, mental and to the soul. It can also be used with equally good results in both humans and animals. I have specialised in the working with horses. In order to teach these two steps one must go into step 3 where one can be upgraded to reikimaster. I became a certified equine massage therapist and reikimaster in - 97.
In my profession I have been able to combine both reiki and massage.
I am happy to share my experiences and offer courses in both stage 1 and 2, furthermore give lectures and make demonstrations in the stables.
Some advantages of reiki
•Accelerating the healing process of injuries, wounds and inflammations
•Strengthening of the immune system
•Release of physical, mental and emotional strains
•Balansing the energy
•Removal of tension and strain
